Kory Kroft is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto. His current research combines empirical evidence and theory to shed light on the optimal design of taxation and social insurance policies. He also focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of long-term unemployment.

His work has been published in leading journals including the American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Journal of Labor Economics and Journal of Public Economics.

His research on long-term unemployment has been widely cited in media outlets and has been influential in shaping employment policy. Professor Kroft received his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, his M.A. from Queens University and PhD. degree from University of California at Berkeley.
