Joan Andrew is the Public Servant in Residence at Ryerson University’s Department of Politics and Public Administration. Joan is also Vice Chair of the Niagara Parks Commission and a member of United Way Toronto’s Community Impact Committee.

Prior to her retirement from the Ontario Public Service in 2009, Joan was the Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, with responsibility for Women’s Issues. Before that she served as Assistant Deputy Minister for several Ministries including Training, Colleges and Universities; Environment; Education and Training; and the Cabinet Office.

Ms. Andrew began her career with the Ontario Public Service in 1988 at the Ontario Women’s Directorate. She started her career with the federal government and worked for 15 years on labour market programs, including a one year exchange working for the UK government. Joan Andrew is a graduate of Glendon College.
