Voter Equality Public Meeting

September 24, 2012

Voter Equality: What the New Boundaries Mean For You. Matthew Mendelsohn and Mowat Fellow Michael Pal spoke to approximately 100 participants at a public meeting at the Bram & Bluyma Appel Salon at the Toronto Reference Library in order to explain how the new electoral boundaries affect voters in the Greater Toronto area, and about the general principle of representation by population. The discussion focused on the fact that some Canadians, particularly new immigrants and urban dwellers, have less voting power and less influence on important national issues.
