Mowat NFP’s impact report provides an overview of our publications, activities and public policy impact for the 2018-2019 year.
Message from Mowat NFP’s Executive Lead
In the following pages we present our 2018-2019 impact report. It has been an eventful year, marked by numerous accomplishments and opportunities to extend our role as an independent and reputable source of high-quality research and analysis on Canada’s non-profit sector.
The release of Breaking the Inertia: Repositioning the Government-Sector Partnership advanced bold recommendations to inform the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector’s ongoing study. The report’s findings were communicated directly to the Committee on two separate occasions, and has been received positively by government officials and sector leaders. Additionally, we are pleased to see positive developments such as the Government of Canada’s commitment to invest in the creation of a Social Finance Fund and to establish a permanent Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector – actions consistent with recommendations proposed by Mowat NFP.
With the delivery of its Innovation in Evidence initiative, Mowat NFP has solidified its role in the sector as a champion of evidence-informed approaches to policymaking and service delivery. Two major events and three research reports were assembled to provide a path forward for strengthening Canada’s evidence ecosystem. We are hopeful that this work continues to inform efforts of those seeking to determine “what works” in policy and practice.
